You might wonder, “A slime??? “One of the simplest monsters of all??” Well that's right, this is what this isekai is about, Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken, abbreviated as Tension, and we will talk about it in this review.
Tensura Anime – Revived as a Slime
This isekai is where our protagonist (Satoru Mikami) is reborn. A world full of fantasy like a slime called Rimuru. It sounds silly, but he has an ability that allows him to become very, very strong. This world has a power system very peculiar to the others, where it is measured by magicles, the more magicles you have, the stronger you are.
In this anime you will see how Rimuru He becomes the coolest of all the possible characters, and you can understand why he is one of my favorite characters.
The anime premiered on October 2, 2018. Categorized as an action, comedy, adventure, isekai, and fantasy genre anime. It has 2 seasons, both with 24 episodes each. Although the second season is divided into 2 parts with 12 chapters each. Each chapter lasting 25 minutes.
It is animated by the animation studio 8bit. A studio famous for having animated the series Grisaia no Kajitsu, Tokyo Ravens, and is cheering Blue Lock. What stands out most about this anime is the animation it contains about magic powers, and its sound effects that are simply amazing.
Synopsis of Tensura
I will leave a small synopsis ahead so you can learn a little more about Tensura:
“Satoru Mikami, thirty-seven years old, is a typical corporate worker, who is perfectly content with his monotonous lifestyle in Tokyo, apart from not having been able to get a girlfriend even once throughout his life. In the middle of a chance encounter with his colleague, he falls victim to a random mugger on the streets and is stabbed. However, as he succumbs to his injuries, a peculiar voice echoes in his mind and recites a bunch of orders that the dying man cannot understand.
When Satoru regains consciousness, he discovers that he has been reincarnated as a slimy mass in an unknown location. By doing so, he gains new abilities, in particular the power to devour anything and imitate its appearance and abilities.
Then he runs into the sealed Catastrophe level monster «Storm Dragon» Veldora which had been sealed for the past 300 years for ravaging a city to ashes. Sympathetic to his situation, Satoru befriends him and promises to help him destroy the seal. In exchange, Veldora gives him the name Rimuru Tempest to grant him divine protection. Now, freed from the mundanities of his past life, Rimuru embarks on a new journey with a clear goal in mind. As he gets used to his new physique, his clingy antics spread across the world, gradually altering his destiny.
Personal Review – Tensura Review: Revived as a Slime
This anime is my favorite. Even though I haven't read its light novel, which is much better than the anime, it entertains me too much. The action that this anime takes, along with its effects and the characters is what made me like it. The protagonist, Rimuru, is very nice but very badass when he needs to be. He knows how to handle moments of tension, and when to impose fear when he must. This is an anime that everyone can watch, since it does not contain any type of +18 scenes.
Even though it is an isekai and has many cliché scenes, for a certain reason it doesn't bore me. The plot is written so that all the characters have their moment to shine, even the least important ones. Obviously it will never be compared to the protagonist, but they still shine incredibly. I think it is a very good anime that anyone can start watching if they don't know what to watch at the moment. It has a relatively simple plot that develops little by little, becoming complex. The comedy will never be missing, as will the action scenes that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
