The famous Sidequest is now compatible with Pico 4 VR
Sidequest now available and is fully compatible with the platform Peak 4 VR since last December 4, certainly an addition long awaited by the entire community.
Sidequest on Pico 4 – What is it and why do I need it?
It is very likely that if you have not been involved in virtual reality for a long time, you have not heard of this software, Sidequest is a platform that allows developers to share their games and/or applications for free and relatively easily so that we can all enjoy them. Think of Sidequest as an extra app and game store that is also free, why not try it?
At first you may wonder that although it sounds good, Why would I need Sidequest on my Pico? Well, simple, because they are games and applications that you would not normally have and they can be very fun or useful, since they are not just games, but we find all kinds of applications for virtual reality, mixed reality, augmented reality... that seek to get get the most out of your viewer.
Installation process
Where do I download and install Sidequest?
For now the only way to download Sidequest is through the official Github of its creator.
To do this, we are going to go to the following link: Github – Sidequest AQK for Peak 4 VR
What we will do is select the latest available version and download the APK, then we will have to download the file .APK downloaded from our PC to our viewer, so we will have to connect the viewer to our PC either via cable or through a shared folder over WiFi.
Once we have the .APK file in our Pico, we put on the viewer, we enter the File Manager and select the APKs tab, where we should see the downloaded file named Sidequest or app-release.apk, we click on it and we install it.
It is possible that if it is the first file from a non-recognizable source that we try to install on the system, it will ask us to activate the option «Allow installing unknown applications«, something as simple as entering options and checking the corresponding box.
