RTX 4090, 90% faster than a 3090
According to a leaked benchmark, the RTX 4090 would be a 90% faster that RTX 3090, the older sister of the current generation.
It has been two years since the launch of the first graphics took place Ampere, the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080, a series that came to revolutionize the market, highlighting the 3090 which has 24GB GDDR6X VRAM, 82 RT Cores and PCIe 4.0, with the 40-45% performing better than a RTX 2080ti which was the most powerful graphics in architecture Turing.
In the lowest range such as RTX 3060 and 2060, the difference is even smaller, between a 20 and a 30%, so if nVidia If this pattern continued, there would not be much expectation regarding the new generation of graphics cards.
For now, all that the most reliable leakers have been saying is that the new pillar of the architecture lovelace, the RTX 4090, it would have at least 24GB of VRAM, 144 RT Cores (one more 80% than the RTX 3090) in addition to having 16,128 CUDA Cores versus the current 10,496 of the 3090, so if we base ourselves on this data, yes, it is possible that the RTX 4090 is 90% faster than the 3090 in certain areas, but in general cases such an increase is hard to believe.
RTX 4090 | RTX 3090 | |
CUDA Cores | ¿16.128? | 10.496 |
VRAM | 24GB GDDR6X | 24GB GDDR6X |
RT Cores | 144 | 82 |
Tensor Cores | 576 | 328 |
Bus Width | 384 bit | 384 bit |
It's not all raw performance
As we have explained previously, the fact that performance can be between an 82-90% higher than an RTX 3090 does not translate the same in all scenarios, in fact, it is most likely that in very few cases the increase will be so considerable. However, this does not mean that the new generation It's not a big leap in terms of architecture.
Speaking of jump, we are going to mention the consumption that according to the famous leaker kopite7kimi, the chip xx90 which is expected to be the 4090 could have a consumption of up to 600W from TGP.
Someone told me the xx90 with 600W TGP has been confirmed.

I think it's too early to talk about it.
This would mean that the architecture lovelace would continue with the upward trend in consumption, in the 1000 series, the top of the range (GTX 1080ti) had a 250W TDP, the 2080ti stayed around these 250W TDP, but with the new generation, the 3080ti already had a consumption of 350W and the 3090ti 450W.
Release date, later than expected.
Originally the expected release date was September of this year 2022, for now NVIDIA has respected this date for the last two generations.
However, this date may only be met for RTX 4090 and RTX 4080, leaving the rest of the 4000 series for the end of the year and even, according to everything, 2023.

3090 double performance
That's what I heard recently. Not sure if it's true.

This may be a disappointment for many buyers who were looking forward to the near arrival of this new generation. Ada Lovelace, since many users have not been able to get a new graphics card due to the inflation that the technology sector has suffered during the last year and a half.
Now that prices have normalized, the last thing the public wants to hear are delays in launches.
The price
We still don't have a clear idea, but based on the market behavior of the last two years and the constant increase by NVIDIA in prices, we can imagine that the new RTX 4090 It's not going to be cheap.
At least it will maintain the price MSRP of the RTX 3090 (1499$) although it is most likely that it is somewhat higher, even more so when we convert to euros.
With a good graphics, you need a good screen
If you are one of the lucky ones who has a high-end GPU or are going to get one of the next generation, the least you can do is also have a good screen and thus be able to enjoy the best possible experience.
