Daily Anime and Personal Growth Message – Aug 29, 2023

I'm NOT going to buy your book, you're a fucking bore.

Dare to tell me, without fear. I am going to continue selling it to you with great pleasure. But dare to verbalize your desires and your rejections, because no one will be offended by it.

I smell the fear.

I have been working in programming and directing IT projects for several multinationals for a couple of years now and I smell the fear that people have of saying NO.

That completely drags down negotiations, and frustrates the person who buys it.

And that's exactly what happens with Yor Forger in Spy x Family, or with Midoriya in My Hero Academia, who say NO many fewer times than they would like.

Are you a Yor or an Izuku Midoriya?

Consider that your refusal of some ideas is not going to make anyone feel bad, and that you are not as important as you think.

All of us who are “modest” are then the ones with the most internal ego, and we think that by saying NO we will ruin someone's day.

If you don't like something, say so. If you're not convinced about something, say so. If you don't dare to say NO, say so.

A while ago I started saying NO a lot more times than I used to, and since then I feel a little lighter, and no one gets offended about it.

I talk to you about this same topic in much greater depth in Chapter 2 of the book How You Think About Anime, This Is Your Life (https://www.amazon.com/Como-Piensas-Del-Anime-Vida/dp/B0C9S8SK5R) where we see the example of Tomoko Kuroki, from Watamote, and the resulting fear of expectations.
