A Man's Man: Excellent Manhwa About Politics and Business

A Man's Man (also called A Real Man, or A Man Among Men) It is a relatively recent Manhwa and WEBTOON which is the story of Yu Hyeon, a fantastic businessman and the youngest person to become CEO of a very important Korean technology company, which by chance of fate He dies and wakes up 20 years earlier, on his first day of work, but with all the experience he had accumulated until he had been the director of that same company. (andThis is not a spoiler since it is told in the first chapter).

He started from scratch; being the assistant of a small office of the company, within a specific department, which in turn was contained in a specific division of the company, etc... and even though he was a super innocent person and with average skills, he gradually rose to little until reaching the highest position.

If you don't know him, you can take a look at Webtoon: A Man's Man.

How does Yuhyeon manage to be the CEO of the company?

In his new life we see how Yuhyeon had colleagues who were very capable of doing his job, and who stood out enormously above him. However, and what is clear to us from the first moment is that Yuhyeon, during his years in the company, had become an expert political being: he is capable of understanding people's needs at a glance, of proposing promising solutions and alternatives in any scenario and without losing his temper, of speaking with charisma and of convincing other people to rethink their ideas or change your mind, and as a result of having all this information you are able to do an outstanding job for any necessary aspect.

Looking at it from this perspective, at some point in his work career Yuhyeon realizes that it is not going to be enough for him to just be a skilled and enthusiastic worker; You realize that what you will need most is a great ability to make good decisions, manage stress, and maintain a good work environment.

I certainly cannot imagine anyone becoming the CEO of a large company who does not possess all of these qualities described.

Why do I so recommend reading A Man's Man / A real Man?

Well, first of all it should be noted that right now I am in a stage of my life in which I really enjoy learning from other people, training and acquiring useful skills, always focused on my future.. Man's Man gives me a great feeling of productivity, which I have only felt reading God of Blackfield (check out his review if you want 😉)

For this same reason I have already read several mangas and manhwas on business, entrepreneurship, etc... (there aren't too many, of course, but surprisingly there are a few more than I expected). And of all of them, A Man's Man is by far the one I'm liking the most (it's still on air). Unlike God of Blackfield, which focuses on many specific topics (physical and mental health, family relationships, friendships...), this work is much more focused on the world of business and the work environment.

This is because treats business from a fully political point of view, and shows you how the protagonist finds it easy to stand out in his new job once he has the experience of having reached the top. And it might seem obvious that if you know what is going to happen twenty years in the future, you will have your life figured out, but that is not the approach given to this work.

The protagonist barely uses his knowledge about past events (mostly because he does not remember his early years in great detail either); However, using his oratory and political skills, and involving excellent decision making, he is already managing to carve out a great niche for himself in the company, and is climbing back up from the bottom, avoiding a large number of mistakes he made when he was younger.

A small piece of a chapter of A Man's Man / A Real Man:

a mans man versión joven y mayor de Yuhyeon

The image above corresponds to what, personally, I think is one of the best scenes in the entire work (for the moment).

In this scene Yuhyeon is being observed by a superior who has a thing for him because he does things too well, and he is aware that his superior is looking for some way to fire him or make his life miserable, since he feels threatened that a young and new recruit stand out above him.

Yuhyeon looks back at him without any shame, with his twenty-something face completely innocent, while in the background we see how he is actually judging him with all his understanding as the CEO of the company, with his forty years of accumulated experience, and thinking something like : «Stop looking at me with that arrogant face; You have no idea how things work in the world, and since it takes you much longer to change that attitude, I'm going to make sure you don't last another day in that chair.«

Demonstrating that, at that point, although he does not have any authority in his job, he seems more than confident to use his political skills, pull strings and get a superior who is two or three levels above him to finish on his feet. on the street at any time.

In summary of my review of A Man's Man:

It's an excellent manhwa, and I hope it continues to be so. I am especially fascinated by his good use of politics in labor relations, and by how he is able to create moments as memorable as the one I just told you about, resorting practically and exclusively to the thoughts of the protagonist, where we see what the shot would be like. of decisions of a person really experienced and trained for it.
